CODEPENDENCY 101
Codependency can best be described as a set of compulsive behaviours a person adopts as the result of prolonged exposure to a dysfunctional system such as a family, relationship or workplace. This eight-week course is designed for those who struggle with codependency and aims to provide a supportive and nurturing environment to explore and understand patterns of behaviour that may be negatively impacting your relationships and personal well-being. Codependency often involves putting others' needs before your own, struggling with low self-esteem, and having difficulties setting healthy boundaries. In this group, we delve into the roots of these patterns, helping you uncover how past experiences or emotional wounds may be influencing your current relationships. Through a combination of psycho-educational lectures, guided discussions, interactive exercises, and peer support, we work together to build self-awareness and identify the behaviours that may be keeping you stuck in cycles of people-pleasing, emotional enmeshment, or dependency.
GROUP THERAPY
People have been healing in community since time immemorial, and the power of sharing our stories and being held in a safe, supportive space cannot be understated. Within these trusted circles, individuals often find the courage to open up, allowing for profound personal growth and transformation. Lucy, who has been facilitating groups for many years, has consistently witnessed clients reclaim their voices, embrace their authentic selves, and live lives aligning with their values and aspirations. Group therapy is designed to offer a blend of guidance, connection, and support. It serves as an invaluable resource for those navigating life transitions, coping with grief and loss, or striving to heal from addiction, codependency, and trauma. In these groups, individuals gain insights, learn new coping mechanisms, and build a sense of community and shared purpose. Through this process, participants can build resilience, find strength in shared experiences, and create a more empowered and balanced life.
BOUNDARY BASICS
Many people find it challenging to set and maintain healthy boundaries, often due to a lack of positive examples during childhood. Without seeing healthy boundary-setting modelled by adults, it becomes difficult to understand that boundaries are not about being selfish but about honouring one’s own feelings and needs. When we can clearly identify and prioritize our well-being, we can engage in relationships more authentically and meaningfully. This four-hour workshop is designed to teach practical strategies and skills for better understanding your needs and communicating them assertively in your relationships. Through a combination of guided activities, self-reflection exercises, and open group discussions, participants will explore and challenge self-limiting beliefs that hold them back from asking for what they truly want and need. This immersive experience aims to equip you with the tools to confidently establish boundaries that align with your values, leading to healthier relationships and a greater sense of self-worth.
WHY JOIN A GROUP?
Joining a group provides a unique opportunity for growth and connection.
Lucy carefully conducts client intakes to ensure that each group is balanced and maintains a healthy dynamic. Every participant is screened, and if individual therapy is recommended as a first step, Lucy will thoughtfully guide clients in that direction.
Our groups are meticulously tailored to foster a cohesive environment where participants can:
-
Share their experiences and receive support from others facing similar challenges.
-
Develop new skills and coping mechanisms in a structured and supportive setting.
-
Gain insights and perspectives from both peers and trained facilitators.
-
Experience a sense of community, reducing isolation and enhancing belonging.
-
Practice communication and relational skills within a therapeutic group setting.
This approach provides a safe and intentional space for individuals to explore and grow together.
